Athletic Trainer job in South Korea. 

This is a civilian position providing care to specialized U.S. active duty military personnel stationed in South Korea. The AT is part of a new Human Performance team that will work to optimize fitness and quality of life for military personnel who undergo extreme stresses to their bodies in the line of duty.

Athletic Trainer Job Overview:

  • Evaluate and provide pre-habilitative services to individual specialized personnel.
  • Provide performance enhancement (pre-habilitation), tailored strength and conditioning, preventive maintenance, and referrals to the medical facility as needed.  
  • Pre-habilitation is intended to strengthen the core musculoskeletal (MSK) system to enhance resistance to neck and back injury.
  • Overall MSK strengthening and healthy lifestyle education is addressed as part of an overall health maintenance program to enhance injury resistance. Such overall strength and conditioning, focusing on neck and back, will improve the overall quality of life for specialized personnel. 
  • Perform initial evaluation, design individual training program, and establish records for all assigned personnel.
  • Follow-up appointments will be based on need, pre-habilitation plans, and any potential coordination with members' healthcare team.
  • Develop Individualized Program (IP) for each member served: The AT, working with other team members will develop an IP for each member being trained.
  • The goals of this IP are to increase physical conditioning and overall health to minimize the risk of neck and back injury and to minimize the severity of any injury experienced by the member.
  • After an IP has been developed the AT, as part of the Team, will guide ongoing implementation of the IP. The team will encourage regular participation of the member.
  • Monitor progress and continually reassess and adjust the IP to ensure the member is making the best progress possible.
  • Advise unit commanders on matters related to injury prevention. Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP) for fitness programs.
  • Refer personnel with a new duty-limiting condition to the servicing MTF.
  • Provide Human Performance and Pre-habilitative trending metrics report to include: musculoskeletal pain, duration of pain, origin of pain, types of pain, conditions which may require surgery, and trends of musculoskeletal pain over periods of time.
  • Human Performance metrics shall also be gathered to assess personnel compliance with the OHWS program. Relevant factors for the human performance metrics will include low back and neck strength and range of motion.

Athletic Trainer Job Qualifications:

  • Licensure: active, current, unrestricted. Any U.S. state. 
  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training
  • Licensure: OATA Athletic Trainer
  • CPR and AED
  • At least 4 years as an Athletic Trainer
  • Certification: National Athletic Trainers Association
  • Experience working with professional and/or elite level athletes
  • Certification: National Strength and Conditioning Association, highly preferred
  • Experience in the field of strength and conditioning, highly preferred

 

 

  • Ability to design and present computer-generated outcome analysis information in order to provide timely and effective peer and higher level educational programs or project briefings.
  • Oral and written communication skills in order to meaningfully interact with peers, outside agencies, vendors, providers, and Military Health System (MHS) stakeholders to exchange information, provide briefings, presentations, research, and develop metrics to demonstrate or advance effective and efficient case aircrew neck and back pain prevention.
  • Skill in effective team dynamics in order to facilitate the exchange of information/education, enhance goal achievement, and identify change in system or policy at any level.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations, professional code of ethics, AF guidance, DoD guidance, and practice standards in order to ensure adherence within legal and professional parameters.
  • Knowledge and skill in using quality and risk management programs and processes to identify issues to improve practice and ensure compliance.
  • Skill in use of research tools in order to critically evaluate existing practices, opportunities, and outcomes

  • Knowledge of computers and software applications in order to conduct data collection, tracking, trending, and analysis.
