Physician Assistant (PA) job overview:

  • Performs complete assessments on all ages from 5 years old and above.
  • Performs pre-employment physicals, and sports physicals. 
  • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As a PCM, HCW's will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of assigned patients. 
  • Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff. 
  • Draft Medical Evaluation Board Narrative Summaries, prepare forms required by patients or for military-specific requirements.
  • Familiarity with unique Military needs and situations is desirable 
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and paper documentation is necessary

  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care

  • Direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma)
  • Recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries
  • Refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols
  • Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
  • Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.
  • Teach patients and family member's healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.

 

Physician Assistant (PA) position qualifications:

  • BLS
  • PALS
  • ACLS
  • Graduate from an accrediated school certified by the ARC-PA
  • Certification by the NCCPA
  • PA Licensure: any US state or territory honored. Active, unrestricted.
  • Clinical competency 
  • Experience:
  • If greater than five years' experience as a Physician Assistant in a primary care setting, Bachelor's Degree
  • If less than five years experience, Master's Degree from an accredited school of Medicine Physician Assistant Studies 
  • 1 year experience working with children and adults in a Family Medicine setting within the past 36 months.
