The  job is a civilian position within the military medical system. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Medicine Job Overview:

  • Outpatient Clinic  
  • Work on medically disqualified compensation, and limited duty programs.
  • Assist in the investigations of illness and injuries for both active duty military and civilian personnel.
  • Supports Occupational Medicine Services, Aerospace Medicine, and Civilian Personnel on coordination and compilation of compensation data relevant to adjudicating and/or controverting compensation. 
  • Apply knowledge of military health care system including TRICARE health benefits or a working knowledge of the principles of fee-for-services, preferred provider network, and managed care/HMO organizations. 
  • Performs/assists with procedures such as bladder catheterizations, administration of oxygen, visual acuity tests, EKGs, irrigation of eyes and ears, ear lavage, pulmonary function, tympanograms, splinting, phlebotomy and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols. 
  • Perform other administrative functions directed by mission needs. 

Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Medicine Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • RN Licensure: active, unrestricted. Any U.S. jurisdiction. 
  • Associates Degree of Nursing (ADN)
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • At least 24 months of experience within the last 48 months in a primary care clinic, emergency room, or critical care setting. 
  • At least 24 months of experience within the last 48 months in occupational medicine and nursing assessment of orthopedic injuries. 
  • Working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE health benefits. 
  • Knowledge of setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers and other clinic specific equipment. 
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated medical records.
