Cybersecurity Support

Security, Computer Systems Specialist


Duties: Analyzes and defines security requirements for MLS issues. Designs, develops, engineers, and

implements solutions to MLS requirements. Gathers and organizes technical information about an

agency's mission goals and needs, existing security products, and ongoing programs in the MLS arena.

Performs risk analyses, which also include risk assessment. Provides daily direction to staff.


Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer

Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or

four (4) years of equivalent experience in a related field.


General Experience: This position requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience in analysis and

definition of security requirements.


Specialized Experience: At least four (4) years of specialized experience in defining computer security

requirements for high-level applications, evaluation of approved security product capabilities, and

developing solutions to MLS problems.


Position Details:

Shall have at least three (3) years' experience in each of the following:

  1. Supporting a networked IT systems environment, including protocols (TCP/IP), equipment, services (DNS), etc.
  2. Supporting Microsoft Active Directory
  3. Supporting Server security, including group policy and related tools
  4. Working with anti-virus suite's (i.e. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator).
  5. Working with vulnerability assessment tools.
  6. Cisco Certified Network Associate (Security) preferred.



  • Manage and Administer McAfee EPO server suite, for enterprise endpoints.
  • Perform vulnerability assessment scans for network endpoints and provide remediation reports to other internal MDTA teams.
  • Review monthly vulnerability assessments and provide remediation instructions to MDTA internal teams.
  • Assist in the development of installation instructions/standard operating procedures for network security hardware/software.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Division of Information Technology management.
  • Attend internal staff meetings as requested.
  • Work in cooperation with the current contractors as well as other MDTA staff.
  • Troubleshoot tickets escalated from the service desk regarding network issues.
  • Coordinate hardware refresh of network security equipment on an annual basis.
  • Liaison with network managed services provider security team for completing network security configuration tasks, and project work.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Division of Information Technology management.
