The Physician - Child Psychiatrist job is within the extensive military medical system and is a civilian position. Physician - Child Psychiatrist Job Overview:

  • Provides outpatient psychiatry services to include assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Utilizes a broad knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and adequately diagnoses and treats the mental disorders listed and described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) 
  • Serve as the subspecialty consultant for the medical management of referred patients.
  • Use the MTF established procedures for obtaining consultations for the referral of patients to secondary and tertiary level services.
  • See at least 7 patients a day face to face, and perform telephone consults.
  • Provide comprehensive and continuing psychiatric care for patients at any age.
  • Performing the full range of Pediatric services to include, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment; emergency treatment in cases of serious illness or injury and recommending arrangements to the nearest hospital.
  • Initiate requests for laboratory tests, as appropriate. Follow-up of abnormal reports is the responsibility of the ordering physician.
  • All abnormal lab reports received on patients seen by the HCW shall be reviewed by the ordering physician within 24 hours of its receipt.
  • Prepare and document appropriate history and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with IRAHC directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required.
  • Ensure all documentation and reports are legible.
  • Perform peer review, chart review, and other quality assurance functions as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission.
  • Participate in consultant visits, staff meetings, and conferences as scheduled by the
  • Chief, Department of Behavioral Health or his designated representative. These tasks
  • are accomplished in conjunction with routine work.

Physician - Child Psychiatrist Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • Successfully completed Psychiatric Residency Program and Fellowship training
  • approved by the ABPN.
  • Current clinical experience in providing Psychiatric care to children above the age of three with speech
  • Minimum of one (1) year post fellowship practice in Psychiatry.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
  • Licensure: valid, unrestricted state license in any U.S. jurisdiction to practice medicine
  • DEA
