Radiologist - Interventionist Job Overview:

  • Review and interpret special procedures obtained on DoD beneficiaries from local and/or regional civilian medical centers, and Veterans Administration.
  • Provide advice and opinions upon request by the Chief of Radiology in support of diagnostic interpretations of radiological examinations or radiological special procedures as provided in conjunction with patient care and treatment.
  • Interpret all special procedures performed and have available a written report.
  • Accomplish fluoroscopic exams and special procedures on the schedule established at the direction of the Chief, Department of Radiology. These fluoroscopic exams and special procedures require same day interpretation.
  • Prepare all records and reports as may be required in support of services rendered and as required by the MTF, Federal law or Air Force Instruction.
  • Attend and participate in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to  assigned cases and performance of services.
  • Facilitate patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other health care providers in accordance with policies and regulations of the medical treatment facility.
  • Provide diagnostic consultation related to diagnostic imaging to other members of the medical staff.  Examinations, procedures, and studies performed will include the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic work that would be performed by a board certified or board eligible interventional radiologist. 
  • Special radiological procedures including, but not limited to arterial diagnostic/intervention, venous diagnostic/intervention, image-guided biopsies/drainages, enteric ostomies, biliary imaging/intervention, tumor and pain management.

Radiologist - Interventionist Job Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed an Undergraduate Program, Medical School (M.D. or D.O.), International Medical Graduates: Graduates of foreign medical schools practicing in the U.S. are required to possess both a medical license and certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or Fifth Pathway. Physicians must have completed Internship, Residency and Fellowship Program.
  • Board Certification or Eligibility by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR)
  • Licensure: Valid unrestricted medical license in at least 1 state, territory or commonwealth of the U.S. and will at a minimum be Board Eligible.
  • BLS
  • ACLS 
  • Be continuously employed in the practice of diagnostic radiology or in training for 24 months within the last 36 months.
