Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Family Practice Job Overview:

  • Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges
  • Supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients.
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members. 
  • Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician. 
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. 
  • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters. 
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety 

Deployment Medicine - one FTE primary area will be:

  • Conduct Person-to-person deployment mental health assessments for each Service member deployed
  • Document Patient care clearly and concise.
  • Conduct Face-to-face visits if assigned 
  • Review the medical records of each deployer to ensure they are worldwide qualified and met all medical requirements for their specific deployment location.
  • Conduct Annual Mental Health Assessments via telephone consult or person-to-person if warranted with a provider.
  • Although the Deployment Medicine mission will remain priority, the provider may support clinical or administrative support for other medical operations 
  • Ensure deployer's Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) is current.

  • The HCW shall review the medical records of each deployer to ensure they are worldwide qualified and met all medical requirements for their specific deployment location.

  • Annual Mental Health Assessment

  • Although the DRHA/MHA mission will remain priority, the provider may support clinical or administrative support for Base Operational Medicine Clinic (BOMC) services


Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Family Practice Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • Computer Skills
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate from a ACEN or CCNE accrediated academic program
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirement within the last two years
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license
