Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Deployment Health job in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Nurse Practitioner job is within the military medical system and is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. The hospitals and medical clinics provide services to the active duty military service members, military retirees, and their families and provide a full range of medical services.

Nurse Practitioner - Deployment Health Job Overview:

  • Provide deployment health screening services to all service members either individually or in groups, at the clinic or at the Line unit as determined necessary.
  • Perform Deployment Health screenings, assess the results, treat patients, and refer patients for further treatment as appropriate.
  • Post deployment health reassessments and screenings
  • Perform case management related services for those patients that need follow on care.
  • Ensure that all service members that require follow-on appointments or referrals will have them before leaving
  • Performance of duties may require travel
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder training or Deployment Health related classes may be required.
  • Analyze the results of the health care plan, modify the health care plan as needed, and implement and participate in follow-up.

  • Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist. Should a meeting occur outside of the HCW's regular working hours, the HCW shall be required to read and initial the minutes of the meeting.

  • Participate in the provision of monthly in-service training to non-health care-practitioner members of the clinical and administrative staff 

  • Provide for an optimum physical environment for patients and staff, emphasizing good safety practices and cleanliness.

  • Support preventive maintenance and report equipment failures and inadequacies.

  • Promote economic utilization of equipment, supplies and be cost conscious when ordering lab and radiological studies.

  • Know the location and operation of emergency equipment.

  • Adhere to departmental and hospital safety guidelines.


Nurse Practitioner - Deployment Health Job Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree, post-Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate from an advanced practice nursing program accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by ACEN the CCNE
  • BLS
  • NP Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license. Any U.S. state or jurisdiction honored. 
  • Demonstrated clinical competency
