Computed Tomography Technologist Job Overview:

  • Perform diagnostic CT services to patient of all ages upon referral.
  • Responsible for direct patient care and technical supervision of contract paraprofessional staff members.
  • Coordinates with intra and inter disciplinary medical team members in total patient care activities.
  • Initiate emergency measures and notify physicians when necessary.
  • Independently performs routine CT studies involving: head, C-spine, T-spine, L-spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities. Reviews CT for quality, contrast, density, detail, and adequate demonstration of anatomy and positioning. 
  • Receive patients, explains methods of procedures, position patients and transfer patients by Department policy.
  • Selects and sets the technical factors, sets-up and adjust accessory equipment required and makes images necessary for the requested procedures in accordance with the Department of Radiology policy. Inputs/types resulting patient's radiology case data into the Composite Health Care Services Systems (CHCS) database for accession of records.
  • Performs procedures as ordered to assure that adequate safeguards are maintained and recognize changes in equipment.
  • Recommends methods to prevent unsafe hazards.
  • Properly label films, anatomical part and position of anatomical part in a plane when applicable.
  • Continually monitors patient's conditions for potential medical or life threatening crisis. 
  • Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records 
  • Complete all required paperwork 
  • Utilize paraprofessionals as appropriate 
  • Perform documentation and patient care
  • Assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal clinic operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but not limited to, managing daily schedules, reviewing and dispositioning consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic SOPs and standards. 
  • Uphold established patient care and practice standards 
  • Review and submit reports as required 
  • Participate in all mandatory training 

Computed Tomography Technologist Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • Completed a program of formal education as recommended by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology that has been approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA). The program of formal education should be twenty-four (24) months in length or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in hands-on clinical applications within the past two year in the hospital setting 
  • Board Certification ARRT
  • Licensure/Registration: ARRT
