Physician - Diagnostic Radiology Job Overview:

  • Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
  • Prepare all records and reports as may be required in support of services rendered and as required.
  • Perform and provide diagnostic interpretation of diagnostic radiologic imaging examinations, and provide diagnostic consultation related to diagnostic Imaging to other members of the medical staff. Examinations, procedures, and studies performed will include the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic work that would be performed by a board certified diagnostic radiologist. Routine studies such as plain film interpretation, the normal range of fluoroscopic examinations and common imaging procedures, the interpretation of MRI,CT scans, and ultrasound and mammography exams are required.
  • Routine radiological procedures including, but not limited to, routine plain film, routine fluoroscopic procedures (barium enema, Upper GI, IVP,pediatric fluoroscopy, Ultrasound (vascular, OB and routine abdominal), CT, nuclear medicine, mammography (including needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies), minor Interventional procedures including ultrasound guided biopsy, and CT guided biopsy (no angiography)
  • Emergency radiological proceduresand cases, which include any procedure the health care provider 1s credentialed to perform, as clinically indicated, outpatient clinical consultations including plain film studies.
  • Interpret all routine studies (including radiographs,CT,US, nuclear medicine and MRI as available at the MTF) and voice dictate using available resources into CHCS within twenty-four (24) hours after the study is performed.
  • Accomplish fluoroscopic exams and any credentialed special procedures on the daily schedule established at the direction of the Chief, Department of Radiology. These fluoroscopic exams and specialprocedures require same day interpretation.
  • Provide advice and opinions upon request by the Chief of Radiology in support of diagnostic interpretations of radiological examinations and procedures as provided in conjunction with patient care.
  • Take part in hospital/clinic Quality Assurance Programs as required to meet the standards of the American College of Radiology, JCAHO and the USAF.
  • Attend and participate in patient care team reports, conferences, professional staff meetings and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to assigned cases and/or performance of services.
  • Demonstrate ability and desire to teach and oversee radiology resident performance and imaging reports on assigned clinical service(s) daily and during on-call shift
  • Develop and present monthly didactic lectures and/or case conferences to radiology residents as assigned by the Residency Program Director and Department/Academic Chairman and assist residents and other faculty in the completion of scholarly projects IAW PD paragraph 2.8
  • Administrative services to include: boards, committee meetings, continuing medical education, peer review and quality improvement as deemed necessary by the Flight Commander or his/her designee.

Physician - Diagnostic Radiology Job Qualifications:

  • Graduated from a residency or fellowship training program within the last 3 years OR have served as a core faculty within an accredited radiology residency program within the last 3 years.
  • BLS
  • Be continuously employed in the practice of diagnostic radiology or in training for 24 months within the last 36 months.
  • Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR).
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine
