The Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavorial Health job is within the military medical system and is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavorial Health Job Overview:

  •   Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Perform physical exam and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Provide education on depression, anxiety, or other behavioral health, or substance misuse topics to patients in an outpatient clinic.
  • Monitor patients predominantly via telephonic means but will have availability to meet on a face-to-face basis or may use email or video teleconference as required to enhance adherence to the treatment plan.
  • Complete and document initial patient contacts within 10 days of the Primary Care referral.
  • Administration of appropriate standardized measurement tools
  • Discussion with patients on adherence to medication or counseling recommendations.
  • Educate and problem-solve with patients to enhance adherence to treatment.
  • Regularly, and as needed, review patient progress with the PCM, IBHC, and the behavioral health prescription specialist.
  • Facilitate ongoing depression and anxiety problem assessment and tracking, and may engage in other behavioral health, or substance misuse problem assessment and tracking if it falls within the scope of their training and program requirements 
  • Provide psychoeduction for patients to encourage healthy habits and prevent decline in functioning. 

Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavorial Health Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
  • Graduate from a CCNE or NLNAC accrediated college or university 
  • One year of experience in nursing as identified in the TO after graduation.
  • RN Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license. Any U.S. state honored.
