Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Flight Medicine job in Hampton, Virginia. 

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Flight Medicine is within the extensive military medical system and is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. The hospitals and medical clinics provide services to the active duty military service members, military retirees, and their families and provide a full range of medical services.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Flight Medicine Job Overview:

  • Knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe software. Employee will need to know how to independently manipulate and draft working documents and reports.
  • AHLTA/CHCS, ASIMS, HAIMS
  • Provides individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics to include preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
  • Performs appropriate portions of medical examinations, treatment, diagnostic and clinical procedures records treatment, procedure rendered, and observed effects.
  • Identifies and records patient problems and appropriately notifies provider/nurse team of observations.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergencies and performs basic life support.
  • Performs appropriate portions of physical examinations including age appropriate physical measurements.
  • Adheres to infection control procedures including use of personal protective equipment, disposal of waste, and aseptic technique.
  • Perform central sterile supply duties.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly assembled, operates, cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift, ensures preventative maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
  • Performs medical records reviews and applies appropriate protocols and guidelines to determine medical needs.
  • Maintains patient medical records in electronic format as well as hard copy as required.
  • Prepares and submits administrative reports.
  • Participates in training and continuing education programs for new procedures, techniques, and equipment

 

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Flight Medicine Job Qualifications:

  • Degree: Certificate
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by NLNAC or CCNE at graduation.
  • Experience performing care and treatment of patients; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment; properly administering oral and parenteral medications; conducting paraprofessional portions of physical examinations; or assisting in medical treatment of patients in accordance with established procedures and protocols with the LPN scope of practice.
  • One (1) year of LPN/LVN hands on patient care in outpatient clinical setting
  •  LPN/LVN Licensure: any U.S. state or jurisdiction. Active, unrestricted.
