The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Medical is based on Tyndall Air Force base and is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Medical job overview:

  • Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies for services.
  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the patient's problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and assistance needed, in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatment to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diverse backgrounds.
  • Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures.
  • Implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families and groups who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems to achieve treatment goals.
  • Independently provide counseling and/or psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families.
  • Provide consultation services to other staff about the psychosocial needs of patients and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and compliance with treatment.
  • Uses clinical assessment skills and maintains procedures to identify sponsors whose family members have special medical and educational needs in a timely manner.
  • Uses a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach with other key service providers, such as installation youth and childcare facilities, and officer and enlisted spouses groups, to ensure effective outreach and identification of special needs. 
  • Ensures all active duty sponsors known to having family members with special needs are identified in medical special needs data management systems.
  • Provides training to installation personnel and medical staff; and consultation as needed to support the implementation of EFMP-M base-wide. 
  • Integrally involved in the Family Member Relocation Clearance (FMRC) process.
  • Participates in EFMP quarterly case reviews to discuss/assess newly identified families', complex, or unmet medical needs.  Determine the appropriate resources necessary for the families. 

 

Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Medical job qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work
  • Graduate from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the CSWE
  • Experience: in compariable setting
  • LCSW Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted
