Seeking a Radiology Assistant in Fayetteville, NC. 

The Radiology Assistant position is based on Fort Bragg Army base and is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics.

Radiology Assistant position overview:

  • Reviews patient medical records to verify the appropriateness of a specific exam or procedure and reports significant findings to Radiologist
  • Interviews patient to obtain, verify, or update medical history
  • Explains procedure to patient or significant others, including a description of risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up
  • Assess patient's vital signs and level or anxiety/pain and informs Radiologist when appropriate.
  • Performs Patient Management
  • Reviews imaging procedures, makes initial observations, and communicates observations only to the Radiologist
  • Performs physical examination and analysis of data
  • Performs computed tomography (CT) post-processing
  • Performs magnetic resonance (MR) post-processing
  • Evaluates images for diagnostic utility and reports clinical observations to the Radiologist;
  • Records previously communicated initial observations or imaging procedures according to approved protocols; Communicates Radiologist's report to referring physician consistent with American College of Radiology (ACR) Communication Guidelines; Provides physician-prescribed post care instructions to patients; Documents procedure and post-procedure evaluation in appropriate record;
  • Operates a fixed/mobile fluoroscopic unit
  • Assures documentation of fluoroscopy time; Explains effects and potential side effects to the patient of the pharmaceutical required for the examination
  • Performs gastrointestinal (GI) and chest examinations and procedures
  • Performs genitourinary (GU) examinations and procedures
  • Performs invasive nonvascular procedures with image guidance 

 

 

Radiology Assistant qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited educational institution
  • Registered Radiology Assistant (R.R.A) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Completion of a Radiology Assistant (RA) educational program in an accredited United States Radiology Assistant Training Program.
  • BLS by AHA
  • One year experience
  • Licensure as a radiology assistant - valid, full and unrestricted license in North Carolina within 12 months of start date
