Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Medicine job is based on Cannon Air Force base and is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. The hospitals and medical clinics provide services to the active duty military service members, military retirees, and their families and provide a full range of medical services.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Medicine position overview:

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.

  • Support Occupational Medicine Services
  • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.

  • Perform physical exam and health histories.

  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.

  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.

  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.

  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned

    personnel.

  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.

  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.

  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.

  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.

  • Setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other clinic specific equipment.

  • Performs/assists with procedures such as bladder catheterizations, administration of oxygen, visual acuity tests, EKGs, irrigation of eyes and ears, tympanograms, splinting, phlebotomy and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols.

 

 



Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Medicine position qualifications:

  • BSN
  • Graduate from an accrediated by NLNAC or CCNE
  • at least 24 months within the last 4 years in occupational medicine and nursing assessment of orthopedic injuries 
  • RN License - current, unrestricted. Any U.S. state or territory
  • Knowledge of preventative health schedules and procedures
  • knowledge of disease management
