Job Opening for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) in Bethesda, MD.


This LPN will be based out of Walter Reed and is a part of the Wounded Warrior Pain Care Initiative (WWPCI). The WWPCI includes programs to improve quality or care for Wounded Warriors, active duty soldiers and their dependent family members and improve access to pain care, and integrative modalities and for all beneficiaries within the National Capital Region. The WWPCI program supports the commands philosophy of Better Care, Better Health, Lower Cost, and Increasing Soldier Readiness.

The LPN position is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics.

Incumbents are highly encouraged to apply. The RN is highly utilized in by the Internal Medicine and Pain team. 

LPN/LVN Position:

  • knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
  • skilled to teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing.
  • knowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients. The Contract LPN/LVN shall demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the appropriate patient population served: Infants, Children, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric (>65).

    Assess, coordinate, facilitate, deliver and evaluate care for infant to geriatric patients using the nursing process.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders/conditions, diagnostic studies and treatments related to prevention, and detection of illnesses in adults, is desirable.
  • knowledgeable in professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience in assessing adult and geriatric patients, as appropriate.
  • knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
  • Must have good grasp of the English language to communicate with patients and other staff.
  • Maintain excellent patient assessment skills.

LPN/LVN position Requirements:

  • Diploma of LPN or LVN, from and accredited National League of Nursing (NLN) approved program.
  • one (1) year experience as a LPN
  • Two (2) years of clinic experience and military healthcare system is desirable
  • one year of experience in the field of pain or related field
  • Basic knowledge of Pain and Pain Management patients is helpful.
  • LPN/LVN Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted. Any US state or territory including D.C.
