Job Opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) - Pain Management in Bethesda, MD. 

This Registered Nurse (RN) will be a part of the Wounded Warrior Pain Care Initiative (WWPCI) at both the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Pain Clinic and Warrior Clinic. The WWPCI includes programs to improve quality or care for Wounded Warriors, active duty soldiers and their dependent family members and improve access to pain care, and integrative modalities and for all beneficiaries within the National Capital Region. The WWPCI program supports the commands philosophy of Better Care, Better Health, Lower Cost, and Increasing Soldier Readiness.

The Registered Nurse (RN) position is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics.

Some occasional travel within Maryland may be required to Fort Meade and Andrews AFB. Incumbents are highly encouraged to apply.   

Registered Nurse (RN) Pain Management Position overview:

Provide services to the medical staff, support staff, inpatients and outpatients for the Pain Service located with the Anesthesia Department. Occasionally, the HCP may need to provide services at one of the other anesthesia sites within the NCR as-needed for the Integrated Anesthesia Department to meet its anesthesia mission.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions.
  • Notify supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems the health care worker is unable to manage.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed. Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting.
  • Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the institution.
  • Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
  • Actively participate in the command's performance improvement program.
  • Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
  • Use computerized systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, and Clinical Information System (CIS).
  • HIPAA Compliance
  • Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities
  • Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.

Registered Nurse (RN) Pain Management position requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by NLNAC or CCNE
  • 24 months experience working as a RN preferably with experience in pain OR
    pain clinic setting within the last five (5) years OR
    have experience working with a team in a clinic setting
  • License: RN. (current, full, active, and unrestricted. ANY U.S. state or territory or D.C. honored)
