Seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Occupational Health for Edwards Air Force Base. 

This is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics.
As a civilian healthcare provider, you will have a dedicated FSR Program Manager supporting you in addition to an office providing administrative support.

LPN Occupational Health position requirements:

  • Current certification in medication administration and immunizations

  • NIOSH approved spirometry training course from an accredited, OSHA approved program

  • Current NIOSH spirometry certification

  • Certification in hearing conservation

  • Familiarity of essential information systems such as the CHCS, AHTLA, ASIMS

  • Occupational health experience or similar skills

  • Training with knowledge of physical examination programs and preventative health care programs

  • Experience with instruments and diagnostic or treatment procedures commonly used in the Occupational Medicine Services (OMS) clinic.

  • 12 months within the past 36 months of LPN Occ Health clinic experience 

  • Knowledge and skill in cardiopulmonary resuscitation used to initiate resuscitation measures
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their expected beneficial effects, and potential side effects
  • Ability to perform infection control procedures
  • Knowledge of emergency medical procedures
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Certificate from an accredited national, state or military trained equivalent school
    LPN License (active, valid, current, unrestricted. Any U.S. State or Territory honored)


LPN Occupational Health Positon overview:

  • Will provide care in the OMS clinic
  • Perform vital signs, PFTs, hearing/vision screening, immunizations, EKGs, and lab procedures, etc.
  • Conduct a variety of diagnostic tests and to understand normal values
  • Review the similar exposure group (SEG) packet in the patient's medical record to assure all the paperwork that is required is in the packet
  • Perform direct care using knowledge of safety hazards; diseases and immunizations; regulatory guidelines to all who report for care in the OMS.
  • Complete appropriate patient information
  • Perform various pulmonary ventilation treatments such as administration of oxygen nebulizer treatments, and peak flow measures.
  • Participate in evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of activities/services as directed by the Chief of Occupational Medicine (COM), Flight Operational Medicine (FOM) Flight
  • Commander or Aerospace Medicine Squadron Commander.
  • Provide instructions to patient regarding splints, ice packs, crutches, etc.
  • Review all tests for abnormalities prior to assembling health records. Bring noted abnormalities to the attention of reviewing physician and take action as instructed.
  • Serves as a practical nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures; sets up procedure room and equipment; provides
  • individualized patient teaching on a preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
  • Prepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, sublingual, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, topical, dermal and inhalation routes.
