Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Orthopedic in Fairfield, CA. 

The Registered Nurse (RN) Orthopedic position is at Travis Air Force Base AFB and is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics. As a civilian healthcare provider, you will have a dedicated FSR Program Manager supporting you in addition to an office providing administrative support. Position contingent upon contract award. It is a wonderful opportunity to work in a fantastic medical system serving an inspiring patient population.

Registered Nurse (RN) Orthopedics qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by NLNAC or CCNE
  • 36 months of experience as a clinical nurse with preferable experience in an orthopedic clinic 
  • RN License (any U.S. State or Territory honored. Current, full, active, and unrestricted)

Registered Nurse (RN) Orthopedics position overview:

  • Coordinate musculoskeletal patients through a continuum of care and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Complete of pre-operative patient preparation to include but not limited to: ensuring pre-operative required documentation is loaded into EMR, validate/witness surgical consents, enter requisite pre-operative orders into EMR.
  • Serve as the primary patient point of contact for clinical questions
  • Telephone and in-person assessment/evaluation includes the determination of optimal time and location for patient management (ER, clinic, homecare) and follow-up care as required
  • Prescribes and communicates treatment plans and patient teaching
  • Collects and assesses significant patient history information and performs all necessary patient teaching
  • Provide pre-operative patient and family education in one-on-one and class environments
  • Serve as a liaison for the department with floor and PACU nursing to educate, train assigned nurses on the care and discharge planning of musculoskeletal surgical patients
  • Makes referral appointments and arranges specialty care as appropriate.
  • Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as ultrasound machines, EKG units, and other clinic specific equipment
  • Performs/assists with procedures such as ultrasound injections, minor clinic procedures, casting and splinting, wound care, and dressing changes in accordance with established protocols
