Job opening for a Clinical Psychologist in Clovis, NM. 

The Clinical Psychologist position will work on Cannon Air Force Base AFB and is a civilian position. The position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics. The position is contingent upon contract award. It is a wonderful opportunity to work in a fantastic medical system serving an inspiring patient population.

Clinical Psychologist position overview:

Function in a Patient-centered Medical Home (PCMH) location in an Internal Behavioral Health Consultant and/or Behavioral Health Care Facilitator in a Primacy Care Service Settings.

Internal Behavioral Health Consultant:

  • Receive patients for initial mental health care concerns consistent with the BHOP model. Patients will be sourced from providers, specialty clinics, telephone consults, and the appointment line. The IBHC will also accept walk-in visits and serve as the primary referral source for behavioral health concerns in the PCMH population. The IBHC will help patients transition to specialty mental health care, as required.
  • Provides brief (typically no more than four appointments) cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care under the Air Force consultation model.
  • Provide classes in format appropriate for primary care (e.g., stress management class, sleep enhancement class, chronic pain class).
  • Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.
  • Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/care givers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.
  • Successfully consults with PCMs on-demand about general issues and specific patients.
  • Delivers brief presentations/trainings to primary care team members regarding behavioral health issues and IBHC services.
  • Participates in team efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical pathway programs needed in the clinic.
  • Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in the patient's medical record 
  • Effectively manage a full daily patient load (approximately 8-14 patient encounters per day.)
  • Duties may include supervision of providers who are in training or not fully licensed.

Clinical Psychologist position Qualifications:

  • APA accredited Internship and Doctorate

  • License to practice (any U.S. State or Territory honored. Active, unrestricted)

  • Minimum of 1 year experience
