Job Opening for a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) - Emergency Department at Camp Lejeune, NC. 

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) position is in the Emergency Room and is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics. As a civilian healthcare provider, you will have a dedicated FSR Program Manager supporting you in addition to an office providing administrative support.

 

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) - Emergency Department position overview:

  • Provide a full range of nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer (e.g., technically direct and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated). 
  • Treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in collaboration with a physician. 
  • Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses. 
  • Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated. 
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable. 
  • Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. 
  • Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling. 
  • Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated). 
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in- service training to staff members. 
  • Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician. 
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling. 
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing 

 

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) position qualifications:

  • Certification: Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC or AANP
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • BLS
  • License: Advanced Practice Nurse (any U.S. State or Territory honored. Current unrestricted)
  • Master's Degree in nursing from an accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE.
  • 1 year experience of full-time experience within the last 3 years in an ER setting
